Before the trip we have booked a chartered sail boat out to the snorkel tour at Ho Chan Marine reserve. I immediately discovered that was completely unnecessary. Not only there were tons of options at similar or lower price, but the sail boat we have originally booked was actually broken when we have arrived. We received an email notice on the day of arrival telling us the tour has been cancelled because the boat is under maintenance.
So here is a lesson for all those who wonder if good customer service can actually bring you business: While I was looking for the sail boat’s docking place before I learned the tour has been cancelled, one of the snorkeling tour ladies was extremely helpful helping us making phone calls and trying to locate the boat for us, even though we did not book their tour. Conversely, another business we approached gave us the “sorry nothing we can do for you” type of response. So by the time we discovered that our tour was cancelled, guess whom we booked our tour with? Yeah, you probably guessed it right!
The whole booking and cancellation actually turned out to be quite a blessing in disguise- not only we booked a tour that was less expensive- but we were the only two customers turned out that morning! So a boat that was supposed to have a dozen people cramped up with all their equipments- we just spread out on each side the boat as the guide gave us a private tour.
This is the boat ride along the beach of San Pedro to Ho Chan Marine Reserve- a five minute ride!
