Belize Xibalba Cave Tubing- Waterfall in cave

The unfortunate thing about cave tubing is that the lighting is so dim, there really isn’t a whole lot of quality videos or photos to share. But the darkness definitely makes you feel calm. The water is about 80F so it’s definitely not cold. While the cave is wide and tall, the water remain shallow for the most part. Some parts we can reach down and touch the pebbles, but there are some deeper parts up to 30′ deep.

We were strictly forbidden to touch any of the rock formations as touching it will really prohibit its “growing”. If you get dripped onto in the cave- according to the Mayan legend you are lucky! Even though we arrived the cave on a “cruise Tuesday”, we got to the cave early enough that it was not overly crowded. The guide shared some previous experience when he had arrived with the cave filled with cruise visitors from one end to the other that not only the lights from everyone is ruining the experience, but the echo in the caves is so loud you cannot hear anything! So if you plan to go, you should definitely avoid days cruises dock Belize.

The waterfall inside the cave was not a big one, maybe 2-3′ but because of the enclosed environment the echo makes it sounds like a major waterfall and everyone were actually scared for a moment until we have approached it. There is also an opening to the cave not over the river, but on the dry side that actually leads to the crystal cave which takes up to 5 hours to explore
