Recently I have begin to observe many local aquarium stores begin to carry and use tubular dense matrix LED aquarium lights. One of the most popular brands is Kessil. I have owned and use Kessil and I must say so far I have been pretty satisfied with their products. But today I was surprisingly notified of this cool light giveaway on Reef2Reef for a Lumini Asta Light. I would strongly encourage you to enter to win. Although I have never owned or used the Lumini Asta light I have heard some good review thus far. And to be honest I am also hoping to have an opportunity to play around with this light to provide them a fair review of the product. Here is what they look like in comparison:
The Kessil 360 Dense Matrix LED. Comes in a few different light temperature variations. maximum strength at 90W with a retail price of $399 (you should also invest on either the hanging kit or gooseneck, plus the controlling device, so a total investment between $500-600.
The Lumini has a maximum strength of 120W at $429, and like the Kessil you will also need to purchase additional accessories to control and place it over the tank. Again depends on how creative you are, total investment of $500-600. So the two are extremely comparable.
Please stay tuned and cross your fingers I get one of these puppies soon to write a review about it!
